The Zilkha Center pursues sustainability at Williams in collaboration with many other departments and individuals on campus and further afield. We provide connections between those diverse groups; design and advocate for operational change; research, implement and share best practices. We provide inspiration and support to other campus community members implementing sustainable projects and practices. In order to do this successfully, we recognize we must understand and value the intersections of sustainability with social justice, environmental justice, equity and inclusion.-Oversee campus sustainability strategic and tactical operations as well as co-curricular efforts-Involved in implementing a 5-year climate action plan to reduce campus GHG emissions by 35% -Create and advise policy reflecting the intersections of social justice, equity, and sustainability-Integrate the highest level of sustainable building design into all capital projects through collaboration with design firms and the college’s Planning, Design, & Construction team

Non-profit organization that creates the political and public will to end hunger in Utah. Initiated Real Food Rising, a youth development sustainable agriculture program that uses sustainable agriculture to transform the lives of young people and to increase access to healthy food in Salt Lake. -Advocated on the state and federal level to insure low-income people's needs regarding food are considered when bills are proposed and passed. -Collaborated with Utah farmers markets and the Department of Workforce Services to increase number of markets that accept SNAP/food stamps. -Created Real Food Rising, youth development sustainable agriculture program -Oversaw and managed all aspects of Real Food Rising from writing grants and managing the budget to evaluating urban farming and youth development programming-Trained, supported, and guided staff and college interns to lead youth participants using youth development methodology and to practice sustainable agriculture techniques in order to grow and distribute thousands of pounds of healthy, fresh produce-Coordinated and planned capitol improvements such as outdoor classroom and kitchen space, fruit orchard, and development of the land; -Managed brand marketing, public relations, and community partner relationships-Salt Lake City Food Policy Task Force, Co-Chair May 2011-September 2014-Social Soup Lecture Series, Committee Member University of Utah, December 2010-May 2013

A transformational youth development sustainable agriculture program modeled after The Food Project that teaches job and life skills and grows produce on 3.5 acres just outside of downtown Austin and donates the harvest to hunger relief organizations. -Co-created and co-directed a youth development, sustainable agriculture program that empowers teenagers to serve their community by growing produce for the community and donating almost half of the harvest to hunger relief-Co-created and implemented program’s curricula; facilitated team-building activities; coordinated program schedule and other details; hired, supervised, and trained staff; oversaw program management; planned and implemented program evaluation; assisted on grants; led volunteers through agricultural tasks on land; trained youth to be leaders and public speakers-Led volunteers through team-building agriculture experiences; presented youth development model at various conferences

Nonprofit writing program modeled after 826 Valencia in San Francisco that provides children and teenagers with opportunities to develop their creative and expository writing skills. ABC connects a diverse population of young writers and learners with a vibrant community of adult volunteers in Austin through free programming. -Worked with board to take program from inception to established 501(c)3 organization. -Created and coordinated programming, managed volunteers and finances, secured office space. Worked with Board of Directors to build and cultivate community partnerships that facilitated finding space for programming, resources for workshops, and recruiting educators and volunteers

Nationally recognized model of engaging young people in personal and social change through sustainable agriculture. Budget of $3.5 million, 3 sites, 30 FT staff with over 3,000 volunteers annually, employs 120 youth annually. Coordinated and implemented year-round programming for 60 urban and suburban teenagers teaching agriculture, diversity awareness, personal development, leadership, and communication skills; Trained, mentored, and supervised 12 young college-age staff; Created and led workshops on stereotyping, race, gender, sexual identity, socio-economic status and hunger; Coordinated and led volunteer groups through sustainable agricultural tasks on TFP's 30-acre farmFacilitated team-building and group challenge activities for both youth and adults and led youth through experiential service-learning through volunteering in urban homeless shelters
