University competition projectThe aim of the Shell Eco-Marathon competition is to build the most efficient vehicle possible, while staying within the rules of the competition. I conducted a sensitivity analysis of our vehicle to determine a set of specific, and explicit design targets in the reduction of mass in the car, and reduction of drag. I conducted further simulations to compare different driving strategies for throttle application to maximize efficiency, and further evaluating the chosen driving strategy in its effect on course completion time.I attempted coast down tests to validate tire data, using a bicycle and a hall effect sensor for wheel speed. I built the data collection hardware simply on an Arduino Uno. I fit the coast down data in MatLab to equations representing the Road Load Equation's solution.
