This system was demonstrated at the IEEE Viz '05 and TeraGrid '06 conferences and published in a paper: http://www.lcse.umn.edu/mri/PARA06-vis-paper-1-20-07-w-citation.pdf• Designed a series of three-level texture caching schemes (between disk, system, and video memory) and corresponding logic which automatically and dynamically selects the most effective scheme.• Increased rendering speeds by a factor of four by effectively balancing the workload between the CPU and GPU -- eliminating bottlenecks and optimizing the use of the graphics pipeline.• Modified compressible fluid dynamics code to run on IBM/Toshiba/Sony's Cell Broadband Engine (currently powers the PS3), exploiting the massive parallelization provided by the unique design of the hardware. -
