Technical Team Lead for the Renters product line, a multi-tenant web-based insurance app. Led a globally distributed development team of 12, delivering monthly feature releases on time, on spec, and on quality. Using the IDesign method, designed and developed key components and services. Implemented Event Sourcing / CQRS, with a Read Model Service that fed data into the 'Q' part of CQRS, with built-in fault tolerance.By encapsulating volatility using abstraction and configuration-based business rules, new tenants can be added to the platform without any code changes, with their own branding, pricing, and business behaviours.Designed and developed a Workflow component allowing the grouping and tracking of multiple asynchronous service calls within our Service Oriented Architecture. Technical Architect and Technical Team Lead for the Cloud Services team, which involved moving Titus's desktop classification services into the Cloud. My team served 4 downstream client teams developing front ends against our Cloud Services.As the architect for the team, I was responsible for ensuring our multi-tenant services were reliable, scalable, and highly available. Built using Micro-Services on Azure Service Fabric, the platform included asynchronous method calls, fault tolerance with retry policies, pub/sub messaging via a Service Bus, NoSQL document storage, semantic logging, and multiple caches. The storage, messaging, and logging implementations were isolated by interfaces to support automated testing as well as allowing us to easily deploy Cloud, On Premise, and Desktop versions using the same codebase.Prior to leading the Cloud Services team, I served as Technical Architect and Technical Team Lead for the desktop version of Titus's flagship data classification tools. The product was designed with a focus on enterprise customers, delivered using Service-Oriented Architecture and providing multiple extensibility points.My responsibilities included overall technical recommendations and guidance; designing and developing supporting architectures; introducing design patterns and coding standards; and laying down a foundation for unit and integration tests.One of my strengths in this role was my ability to gather design ideas and opinions from stakeholders and developers (each with different skills and personalities), and to then design the right solution to both satisfy the stakeholders and to meet my design objectives of simplicity, flexibility, and quality.

CaTHI is a complex web-based enterprise solution providing clinical and workflow support for Cardiac, Cardiology, and Thoracic specialties. This role involved hands-on leadership of all aspects of the Agile project lifecycle: requirements gathering workshops; business analysis; production of specifications (domain model & corresponding use cases); production code; automated unit test suites, and system deployment. Responsible for leading the design & development team, including technical development and mentoring of team members.TeleScheduler: Technical Architect and Technical Team Lead for the TeleScheduler application suite, the UK’s industry-leading homecare rostering package, featuring Web Service e-monitoring of care workers’ site visits. Introduced contemporary Agile development practices to the legacy code base, resulting in faster implementation of new features while greatly improving quality. Brought the entire code base under automated test, allowing low-risk replacement of legacy code with proven design patterns. Led a team of five developers, mentoring on best practices, legacy maintenance techniques, and contemporary design patterns. MIDAS: Technical Authority and Lead Developer for MIDAS, a large Insolvency Administration System in Scotland. The project involved co-ordinating legacy architecture with a contemporary service-oriented stack.SCI Gateway: Technical Advisor and Lead Web Developer for the SCI (Scottish Care Information) Gateway project. Responsibilities included overall architecture design, team mentoring, and developing new modules for the customer’s high-visibility medical web application.
