Applied reinforcement learning to enable robots to perform complex physical manipulation tasks under clutter and uncertainty with and around people, under the supervision of Prof. Sid Srinivasa and Kay Ke.Engineered techniques to help robotic arms learn to navigate and pick up objects using chopsticks, by programming reward functions, tuning hyperparameters and state-action spaces to enhance pre-existing algorithm behavior, and developing reinforcement learning algorithms, on-policy algorithm like PPO and off-policy algorithm like DDPG.Plotted reward function graphs using tensorboard and visualized the robotic arm movement using OpenAI gym to check the quality and performance of the algorithm and compare various approaches undertaken.

Worked on the CoughX platform, whose aim was to keep track of users cough numbers and patters, so as to detect conditions like pneumonia and then was modified to help counter the COVID-19 pandemic. My job involved analyzing and engineering different types of cough data collected by the lab by performing various data science techniques and then convert this raw .wav file into a mel-spectrogram, which serves as an input the DNN model. My work also involved writing scripts for performing data augmentation on these spectrogram such as changing amplitude, adding noise and mixing background sounds to this data
