After Graduating from UNCG in 2016 with a B.S. in Biology/Biotechnology, I was hired in June of 2017 at ITG Brands as a Temp Chemist. While in that position I trained in multiple disciplines. Started in Sample Control to learn the tracking of samples from submission of internal clients. This gave me a thorough understanding of the behind the scenes internal administration of the laboratory world. From Sample Control I was then moved to TNCO lab to learn the process of tracking samples through that method utilizing specific computer programs, GC, and smoke machines. The final group I was placed with for the remainder of my time as a Temporary Chemist was the Leaf Sustainability and Development Group. Here I was given responsibilities in organizing data in regards to CPAs for the director of Leaf using specific computer programs, assisted in making presentations in Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint based on that data, process/organized samples for submission for both internal and external testing, became familiar with tobacco grading/handling/blending/cutting and making cigarettes, and was trained as a Grade Smoker by Gary Shelar.
