Director of the Clinical Research Support Team, overseeing a group of clinical research professionals supporting clinical research across a broad spectrum of indications.

 Manages a team of (5) Regulatory and (3) Contracting Specialists. Ensures team completes submissions and contract negotiations in a timely manner.  Tracks Key Performance Metrics for each team involved in the Research Startup Process as well as the overall process and reports to leadership regularly with suggestions for process improvements. Accountable for the development, implementation, maintenance of the Children's Hospital Colorado Clinical Trial Management System. Currently leading a committee to assess adopting new CTMS system.  Partners with stakeholders and decision makers to foster collaboration in operations, planning, budgeting, strategy, and communications across the campus-wide research enterprise; conceptualize, articulates, and gains support for a wide range of initiatives. Actively engages local departments to assess if our structure can better meet their research needs. Leading a quality improvement initiative to decrease the research startup process as a Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt Candidate

 Initiated an independent research project on RNA editing through ADAR1 in melanoma progression. Examined the literature to date, identified roles for ADAR1 in other disease models, and developed specific aims to examine ADAR1’s function in melanoma progression.  Performed experiments to further current understanding including; tissue culture, western blotting, lentiviral shRNA transduction, cell proliferation assays, RNA editing assays, immunohistochemistry and confocal microscopy.  Performed daily literature searches to stay current on relevant scientific discoveries.  Trained one graduate student in various lab techniques including; microRNA isolation, tissue culture, and real time polymerase chain reaction (PCR).  Presented data in slide presentation at an M.D. Anderson meeting with around 30 people in attendance.

 Developed specific aims for an independent research project studying the role of β8 integrin in interactions with endothelial cells and extracellular matrix in neural stem cell regulation and migration. Developed experiments and presented data in formal written form and slide presentation. Discovered neural stem cell regulation is dependent on β8 integrin’s interaction with endothelial cells in the subventricular zone stem cell niche, and β8 integrin is necessary for proper glial tube formation in migration of neural progenitor cells along the rostral migratory stream. Performed daily literature searches to stay current on relevant scientific discoveries.  Maintained and genotyped relevant mouse colonies for experiments. Implemented technique of isolation and culturing of neural stem cells in laboratory. Collaborated with neurosurgeons and pathologists to isolate stem cells from patient samples and M.D. Cancer Center.  Presented data in slide presentations in laboratory meetings. Received feedback, fielded questions and received critical review of data and planned experiments.  Received 2nd place at 2007 Cancer Biology Program Student Retreat, a poster competition judged by faculty of the graduate school program.  Received 2nd place at 2008 Cancer Biology Program Student Retreat, a speaking competition judged by faculty of the graduate school program.  Trained two graduate students in various laboratory techniques including; western blotting, PCR, and isolation and culturing of primary neural stem cells. First Author of two peer-reviewed research papers and first author of one chapter in a textbook.
