Review fire alarm and suppression systems for code compliance with codes adopted by the State of Maryland and Montgomery County. Conduct meetings with design professionals of fire suppression systems and fire alarm and detection systems serving as a resource for code interpretation and application. Represent the Department of Permitting Services at the State Fire Marshal's Sub-committee and the State Fire Code Update Committee. Collaborate with plan review and inspection staff to determine the appropriate means of application and enforcement of code requirements. Review and evaluate performance based designs for fire alarm, sprinkler and other life safety systems for construction, renovation and retrofit projects.

Design, conduct, facilitate, and evaluate emergency operation plans, exercises, and create compliance documentation for emergency management jurisdictions, emergency response agencies, and the private sector.

Responsible for building, fire protection system, life safety and site development plan review. Maintain fire prevention program utilizing print, television, and other forms of electronic media. Conduct code compliance inspections for new and existing buildings. Conduct meetings with design professionals and serve as a resource for code information and interpretation to citizens and consumers in the CIty of Rockville.Evaluate performance based code designs as well as code modifications for buildings and life safety systems.Represent the City of Rockville for Maryland State Fire Marshal's Subcommittee and serve on the Maryland State Fire Code Update Committee.Update, amend and maintain the City's Fire and Building Codes.
