I am the elected Diversity, Access & Participation Officer at the University of Sussex' Students' Union. In my two years so far at Sussex I've been actively engaged in campaigning work, student democracy, and union policy. I've mobilised students on fair rent and organised around anti-racist and decolonial work and have also advocated for better handling of sexual abuse and against campus securitisation.I'm keen to pursue work in community organisations and build campaigning experience, I've been involved in the building and organisation of a successful student rent strike movement and student renters' union which has secured millions in rebates alongside a host of other student/social movements. I am currently focussed on race equity work through expanding the union's Race Equity Advocates scheme; improving financial accessibility to higher education; shifting pedagogical approaches to encapsulate a decolonial framework, and improving accessibility for disabled / neurodivergent students through a hybrid learning and other policies / initiatives such as quiet rooms around campus and better training for staff. In my time outside of university, I've trained for a pilots license (EASA Part-FCL PPL[A]) at Coventry airport, I play piano, have spoken on panels in front of a crowd at the annual festival of UK based political education project The World Transformed and actively engaged in the political, community, and social landscape of where I live.
