I am a high achieving student of Philosophy at the University of Sussex, currently studying for my undergraduate degree. I have been told that I have a unique ability to solve complex problems, especially in environments that are high stress, or in situations where others are struggling to come up with a solution, which so far has massively benefitted me academically. This skill has been of great use for my coworkers in employment where I often find myself taking on positions to navigate through complex and troublesome circumstances. In education I have found myself successfully shooting above my mark, performing well on the course, conducting independent research, networking with postgraduates in the field and submitting papers to undergraduate philosophy journals; both to carve a way into the discipline at an early stage, but also for the benefit in furthering my knowledge of this deeply held passion. Within my field I have a particular interest in Post-Kantian philosophy, included but not limited to: Frankfurt School critical theory, existentialism, phenomenology, Marxist studies, social and political philosophy and applied philosophy. After my higher education studies have concluded I hope to go into Further Education teacher training so that I can give back to the community in a gratifying way; so far I have accrued significant experience in customer service and hospitality management, where I have found myself to be quite successful!Further, I have been told that my positive attitude in and out of the workplace has made me a beneficial asset in customer service, to quote one customer: 'Jay... upbeat, helpful, kind and even served our food making my day so bright and happy... one of the happiest staff I have ever encountered and I hope he gets promoted; really great!'. I often find that it is where people expect it the least that you can make the greatest impression, which is an ethos I carry with me into the workplace to the benefit of all involved.
