About Alison Whipple

I am motivated to rehabilitate diverse and productive ecosystems in a changing world through science-informed land and water management. I have over 10 years of experience in California water, restoration, and management issues. My work encompasses process-based and landscape-scale restoration, the role of pattern and process in historical and contemporary landscapes and ecosystems, hydrologic regime characterization, hydrodynamic modeling, quantification of spatiotemporal floodplain inundation patterns, habitat suitability analysis, and hydrologic impacts of climate change. I approach problems from an interdisciplinary perspective and enjoy collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.I have developed and executed multiple independent research projects (involving field work, modeling, spatial/statistical analysis, and science synthesis), led and managed projects and worked with a collaborative team, presented to a wide range of audiences, published peer-reviewed papers, written and reviewed multiple reports and outreach materials, and written successful research grants/proposals.
