Advance BCM’s mission to make Maine better for biking and walking by leading statewide advocacy efforts for infrastructure improvements, public policy advancements, and programming.Convene internal Advocacy Team to coordinate strategic campaigns, advocacy communications, and fundraising and budget tracking.Develop and execute policy positions, strategies, and advocacy campaigns for municipal, regional, state, and federal initiatives. Coordinate, develop, and grow the Community Spokes program, a statewide network of over 100 trained local bicycle, pedestrian, and trail advocates.Coordinate state policy and lobbying activities and convene 12-member Legislation and Policy Committee.Create and distribute external communications to build awareness of BCM’s mission, programs, and achievements.Be a visible spokesperson for bicycle and pedestrian advocacy in Maine. Give public presentations and represent BCM and our members in all manner of settings.Work collaboratively and strategically with partner organizations and other stakeholders to develop relationships, communicate and proliferate messages in service to BCM’s mission.

Advance NRCM’s mission to reduce human and environmental exposure to toxins and encourage sustainable production and waste management.Convene internal Toxics Team to coordinate grassroots, policy development, fundraising, outreach, communications, and strategic elements of initiatives.Work with grant-writer to track, maintain and grow funding for the project area and report to funders.Build support from legislators, activists, the media, and general public through written and oral communications.Develop advocacy materials in support of advocacy initiatives, including fact sheets, reports, and public communications.Develop policy positions and advocacy initiatives on toxics, environmental health, and product stewardship issues work.Serve as steering committee member in two diverse coalitions in order to advance policy priorities at the state and national level.Build strategic relationships with key decision makers, business and community leaders, and other organizations and individuals to build and maintain allies.Deliver testimony to the Legislature and administrative bodies in support of NRCM positions on legislation, proposed policies, and regulations.
