I have worked in many aspects of publishing and communications during my career — including as a traditionally published and self-published author; award-winning writer; founder of three publishing ventures; consultant; and editorial, design, and communications management in agency, corporate, and nonprofit organizations. In addition, I have a Bachelor's Degree in Publishing and Writing from George Mason University earned in only three years with a 4.0 GPA.My eclectic background allows me to provide unique ideas and perspective to the professionals I advise, teach, work with, or work for. Aside from personal interaction, I offer my experience and knowledge through online content, books, and my professional speaking — which includes 300+ events to date in the U.S., U.K., and Australia, as well as a TEDx Talk and emceeing two TEDx events. Additionally, from 2003–2010, I was the president of Publishers & Writers of San Diego, leading the professional association through growth from a dozen members to a thriving nationally recognized organization with 150+ paid members and 500+ supporters.Professional highlight #1: Being chosen out of several hundred applicants from all over the world to be part of a 14-person group coached by best-selling author and marketing mastermind Seth Godin at his office for one full week. My group included entrepreneurs, artists, and business leaders from four countries.Professional highlight #2: Put together a book deal between Nicko McBrain (drummer for the rock band Iron Maiden), Warner Bros. (publisher), and myself (author). I collaborated on the book with Nicko for two years, including spending 10 days with the band in Germany. The book was published in 1990 and sold internationally throughout the decade.
