I was promoted to the role of first team strength and conditioning coach in October 2016.In this role I delivered strength and power focussed programmes to our squad in pre-training, on-field and gym-based sessions. The primary focus of our programme was to develop capacities in our players in order to create strong and robust athletes.

When starting this role in 2012, I worked mainly with the U9-U16 age groups delivering age appropriate S&C sessions on a weekly basis with the assistance of interns. Part of the programme for these age groups was monitoring growth and maturation. This played a very important role in exercise prescription and training load monitoring.During this time I established a physical conditioning syllabus for the academy age groups so to allow for progression and comprehensive delivery of the appropriate skills and capacities.My work also included delivering S&C services to the U18 age group in a full-time football programme. Monitoring training load with GPS was also a key aspect of my role here. This was fed back to the relevant coaches in order to assist them in designing technical/tactical training as well as monitoring player fatigue.

In this role, I worked alongside the SSP to deliver Strength and Conditioning support to gifted and talented athletes in the Amber Valley school area. This was delivered in a satellite process whereby the athletes attend on a monthly basis to partake in appropriate S&C training. The aim of this programme was to provide the young athletes with skills that would benefit them now and in their futures.
