My passion:I am also working on marrying environmental / agricultural conservation with affordable housing via my nonprofit partner, The REED Center for Ecosystem Reintegration. The idea is to design & implement native, diverse, edible, medicinal (and of course beautifully floral) perennial landscaping at suburban and urban Affordable housing communities to reintegrate humanity with thriving natural ecosystems creating truly unique communities/spaces.  We then want to use this hyperlocal food infrastructure (aka “victory gardens 2.0”) to the enhance the community through the educational programming of gardening, harvesting, cooking, composting, nutrition, and more… alongside annual garden beds for additional education and nutrition.  I am looking for a regional Affordable housing developer/owner to set precedent by accomplishing this using existing incentives proving this idea can be both economically and ecologically successful enough to reproduce.
