EasyDial is a medical startup developing a portable dialysis machine. I will be writing firmware - the computer programs that make our product work and ensure the patients' safety. I am transitioning into a product design role at Dwyer Instruments. This is a very exciting time for me, as it will broaden my experience!In this position, I develop manufacturing test procedures for new products and oversee their implementation. I also write, oversee, and perform design verification testing for new products.While in this role, my supervisor allows me to perform occasional firmware and software design tasks. My hope is that once a product design role becomes available, my skills will be sharp and enable a seamless transition.

I resolve technical issues in the manufacturing of products. That means developing, debugging, and deploying manufacturing equipment and ensuring products can be made quickly and reliably enough to meet demand.

I worked in the oldest power plant still in operation in Northern Indiana...and learned new things every day. The plant was built in the 20's, is situated on the beach of Lake Michigan, and houses three generators, two of which were built using WWII technology and won't ever be used again, and one of which provides about 500,000 W of power, I think. Each generator can run on coal or natural gas, though gas is used only for startup because it's too expensive to be profitable. My office was built in the middle of what used to be a main control room, surrounded by 50 year old circuit breakers. It looked like something out of a movie. I was able to walk on metal grating up to 10 stories in the air, and I can look straight down to the ground. During my interview, I had to go to the top and then hold my hand out to see if I could take the heights. Oh yeah, I had my own hard hat too.
