I hear some people would hate doing what I do - the way everything is urgent and comes all at once, the way the ground shifts beneath your feet every step you get closer to understanding the problem and the solution, the way the buck stops with you if something goes wrong - but I love it!Whether it's tearing apart a problem and re-imagining it with colleagues and clients in compact and fast paced workshops, or getting under the skin of huge challenges that face organisations across the globe in in-depth one-to-one conversations, I just love the unexpectedness, the need for rapid side steps and the surprise tangents that become more than anyone could have predicted.So what do I actually do? I am the first person to speak with clients about their challenges; the first person to help start to shape a solution, and the person who is available from the very earliest conversation through to final delivery and onto the next project to make sure that the learners' and the stakeholders' needs are at the heart of what we do.

Realising that the future is digital, I took the leap!Everything I had learned about curriculum design, pedagogy, andragogy, engagement, learning models and theory could suddenly be pivoted to use in creating digital learning.Suddenly, on top of all the knowledge I had I was learning new things - and not just drag and drop, cut and paste. I was learning about digital design, SCORM standards, gamified learning approaches, immersive technology developments and why xAPI was going to change the world of learning... eventually.So I built, I scripted, I workshopped, I briefed, reviewed and ideated my little heart out and had an absolutely great time along the way!

And they're not wrong.Nearly 5 years teaching in Crawley taught me a lot - the great thing about working with young adults is the rich tapestry of new language you encounter on a daily basis.As well as expanding my own language skills, I - Provided English teaching and course design at A-level and GCSE.Ran an A-level Philosophy course.Worked to the highest professional standards under prolonged pressure.Was responsible for safeguarding and welfare of young and vulnerable adults.Designed innovative and inspiring course content across a range of media and levels.

It was a fascinating opportunity to get under the skin of the capital of Europe - to meet and speak with the people who keep huge institutions running and to indulge in ill-advised quantities of world famous chocolate, waffles, chips and danger beer.Teaching with high profile learners from a range of backgrounds and professions, including the European Commission, NATO, Belgian Cultural Ministry and large selection of law firms, NGOs and multi-nationals.

My first "Real Job" - it was meant to just be a chance to test the water, to see if education was really what I wanted to do... Well, it turns out it was!It was the perfect taster session - facilitating small and large groups, working with the unemployed, with young adults, with the military, with bankers. It was the perfect introduction to professional life and it inspired me to get a teaching degree!
