About Adam Dvorak
I am passionate about developing creative applications of physics principles to solve complex problems, then effectively communicating the value of these solutions to broader, non-technical audiences.My physics PhD focussed on measuring myelin, the insulation for the wires in the brain and spinal cord, using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners. Of note, I have created an atlas 'roadmap' for myelin content in the human brain and how it changes across the life span. The crux of my PhD work leveraged mathematics from image compression techniques to recover high-quality images from a small fraction (about 4%) of a myelin imaging dataset, allowing scans to be performed over 20 times faster.Outside of my PhD, you can find me at equilibrium in a fight with entropy: restoring a 50-year-old car at the same rate that it spontaneously falls apart.
