Carried out background research, travel logistics, in-country visits, reviews of hotels, bars, restaurants as well as write-ups on culture and history; developed multi-tasking skills with strict time constraints and no editorial oversight. Served as liaison between UNHCR Public Affairs Office and all UNHCR offices worldwide, collecting first-hand information about regions with refugees. Monitored American press, attended US Congressional hearings, press conferences, roundtable discussions, etc. and then transmitted these findings to UNHCR offices on six continents. Also carried out research on behalf of UNHCR in Colombia during civil war to study plight of the internal refugees; made internal policy recommendations and publicized work through NPR interview and front-page article in San Fransisco Chronicle.
