In this role, I collect and analyze samples daily to measure reduction of harmful wastes as they flow through the Wastewater Treatment Facility. Following EPA and NPDES permits, E. coli, Biological Oxygen Demand, Total Suspended Solids, Total Residual Chlorine, and pH tests are performed daily and reported to management and governing bodies as necessary. Calibrations, standard preparation, equipment management and cleaning, as well as autosampler tubing maintenance is completed as required. Training interns and new hires, along with entering data and calling in violations when necessary, is also crucial to the functioning of the Wastewater Lab.

An Office Assistant at the Plymouth State University Student Activities Office is responsible for fielding all manner of questions involving club and organization activities on and off campus as well as campus wide events such as Welcome Week, Homecoming, and Spring Fling. Assistants are prepared to answer phone calls with questions revolving around these events, creating new clubs, or new events through outside companies to the best of their ability as well as to refer to their supervisors when possible. Marketing for events such as social media plugs, physical banner creation, and flyer production and distribution are also constant aspects of the position.

Known as a Resident Assistant at many secondary institutions, as a Community Advisor I fulfill multiple duties within the assigned building by serving as both hospitable host and safety/ policy enforcer for students, or residents, within the building. On a staff of six in-house fellow Community Advisors led by our Residence Director, we provide support for the students within the building by serving 2-3 duty shifts per week in pairs to both connect with residents within the building and to patrol the open spaces of the building 3 to 5 times a night between the hours of 8 p.m. and 12 a.m. on weekdays and 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. on weekends. We also offer in-hall events and programming on a monthly basis to provide opportunities for residents to connect, grow, lend their support, and de-stress on week nights and weekend days. We provide emergency response assistance in many situations within the building including fire alarms, health emergencies, and power outages. We also facilitate necessary building concerns and health hazards to physical plant to fix issues with hardware, heating, locks, as well as cleaning up bodily fluids. Our mission is to provide a safe and enriching environment where our students live, learn, and grow.
