I write software for FairCom, the best database company in the world.Many of my projects have been focused on measuring performance. My first large project was measuring the maximum record insertion performance a single FairCom database server can reach. I easily reached over a million insertions per second in my first attempt. After learning some performance tweaks, I was able to reach 12 million records per second. By running my benchmark in multiple simultaneous Bash instances, and configuring each to write to a different table (with each table on a different SSD), I was able to reach over 50 million insertions per second. The peak performance I was able to reach was close to 100 million insertions per second to a single server. Measuring this was complicated because the way our Linux kernel scheduled tasks.Other FairCom projects I have written include: a generic command-line program tester which can test any terminal program and validate its output, a MQTT persistence tester which sends data to a FairCom Edge database with integral MQTT broker and then use JDBC to verify the MQTT content made it into the database, a Java program to evaluate the performance of multiple JSON libraries (Gson, Jackson, DSL, etc), and a Python program which validates and stress-tests our JSON NAV API.I graduated from Utah Valley University with a degree in computer science. I am not the best trainer, but feel that I can teach what I know fairly well. It makes me feel like my education and experience is being put to good use, and proves to myself that I know the content.I enjoy new technology and am fascinated by cutting-edge hardware. I have a passion for finding elegant solutions to programming problems. Refactoring code to make it faster, simpler, or easier to read is one of my favorite things. Because of this, I frequently return to old projects to see what I can improve. I almost always appropriately comment my code.When left to my own devices, I use Allman style braces, set my margin to 212, tab stops to 3, and put spaces in all non-empty parenthesis. However, I feel comfortable working with any code style. Even PEP8.
