I am a software engineer with over a decade of industry experience. I specialize in Microsoft technologies, notably relating to data-driven web applications. Over my career I have done full life cycle development of projects using ASP, ASP.NET, and MVC, as well as web services. I have an equal amount of experience in database development. In addition to schema design and normalization, I also have experience with stored procedures. More recently, I have turned to LINQ-to-SQL and Entity Framework for database access.There is more to being a software engineer than just writing code. I believe it is important to display a sense of craftsmanship in every line written. Agile process, test-driven development, and design patterns are effective tools to that end. More importantly than simply writing code that works within design parameters and calling the job finished, good code should be self-documenting, testable, and as concise as possible without sacrificing readability. I do not believe these principles are only academic. As a consultant, I have seen good design, concise code, and solid testing transform a program given up for lost into a reliable, robust application.
