Miss PENG’s ability to learn fast and to appreciate the comparative perspective is a strength that has helped her perform well in Hong Kong, at the Michigan State University as an exchange student, and in various cities in the USA as a volunteer. Her research proposal—A Social Justice Approach to Housing Policy: A Case Study of the Housing Policy in Shanghai—for her MPhil study once again indicates that she has the ability to integrate important issues from different fields (i.e. social justice, housing issues and urban development) into a coherent study. The same proposal also demonstrates that Miss PENG is well aware of the possible benefits that a comparative approach (i.e. the western vs. the Confucian approach in social justice) can bring to social science research. I have no doubt that Miss PENG will perform exceedingly well in her further studies and given the right kind of guidance and opportunities, Miss PENG will soon become a young and competent scholar that can lead us to expand the frontier of our knowledge in the social science.
