Valuation and investment recommendation on the Indian Retail, Consumer & Media sector and companies

•Built the ‘Lead Economic Indicator’ (LEI) for India - an economic model to predict turning point in India’s economic cycle. The accurate prediction gained client interest globally and also press coverage in national business dailies. As we were first investment house to call a ‘recovery’, it directly resulted in incremental revenue generation for the equities business •Provided written inputs to the monthly LEI research reports and also conceptualized add-on themes for each. One such example was our comparison of LEI with relative performance of Cyclical over Defensive sectors – this was very well received by investors.• Built the ‘Retail Sales Index’ for India to gauge on ground consumption demand. The index is a bottom up compilation of domestic sales data of FMCG companies. This is one of its kind index for the Indian market and is used in various publications to give color on consumption trends•Designed ‘Monsoon Tracker’ – A bi-weekly product to monitor the effect of failed monsoons of 2009 on 1) GDP 2) inflation. This exhaustive product generated lot of client interest. We were also the first of the block to downgrade our GDP numbers due to poor monsoons on the back of this product.•Built the Taylor rule model for India to predict the likely course of policy rates in India.
