I am passionate about user interface design as well as easy to use API design. A simple and minimalistic approach to creating intuitive, attractive, and functional applications and services is my number one focus. Users appreciate all the application features when the interface impresses them. I enjoy learning and developing with the latest technologies. I thrive when working in highly effective teams and look forward to collaborating with others to accomplish our common goal.Over the course of my 17-year career at State Farm, my experiences as a developer have allowed me to build knowledge across a variety of business areas. These experiences have also allowed me to grow my skills in both front-end and back-end technologies and software development practices. Through work assignments as well as my personal projects I’ve become proficient in front-end technologies from VB applications to modern SPA web applications using Ember, Angular, and React. I’ve also utilized modern web frameworks to create Mobile applications and Mobile Web Applications. On the backend, I’ve created RESTful services using both Spring and Node, interacting with modern databases such as Postgres and MongoDB. My roles have also given me opportunities to deploy applications to an internal cloud, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Hadoop, Kubernetes and AWS. In all of my assignments, from Software Developer – Architecture to Lead Developer, I have focused on learning and applying modern technologies to provide solutions that directly impacted customers, agents, and internal developers.

    The new Enterprise Claims System (ECS) was the largest application to be developed. It replaced the legacy claims management application. I lead the design and Java development of the organization management and claims personnel components for the largest enterprise claims system. The eMedical application was also a large effort built to save the company expense costs related to the payment of medical claims. My role was to develop components and participate design and testing discussions. The resulting application saved the company the cost of its development many times over.- Using Java, XML, and XSL built, tested, and deployed ECS components to WebSphere. - Participated in organizational realignment efforts and database domain design.- Worked alongside the Project Manager to scope and plan requirements, design, development, and testing schedules- Moved to the claims architecture engineering team where I developed Java architecture components, build tooling to enable multi-branch development using ClearCase, and code base analysis tools using C#.Net.- Developed Eclipse plugins and editors using Java for custom file types used be the enterprise claims system.- Using Visual Basic, developed the organization management and claims personnel module of the eMedical claims system- Developed conversion tools for the upgrade the entire eMedical application to the latest version of the in-house reference architecture that was utilized.
