Hired to support a team of Engineers from the University of Catalonia (Barcelona, Spain) completing ontime the installation of a monitoring and data recording /acquisition system for a BC Hydro power plant in Canada, before the plant went online. The project was funded by the European Union for research in generating turbines instabilities involving analysis of vibration, field energy, misalignment, cavitation wear and other types of fatigue and failure. • Coordinated work between research engineers and plant workers to improve work efficiency • Installed sensors and probes, cables, signal conditioning and monitoring cabinet within the power plant standards and requirements for a permanent installation. • Designed, documented and built prototype circuits for troubleshooting and analog to digital conditioners allowing signal recording at full range with in-house parts. Designed electrical isolation between plant and monitoring system, as well as network configurations for broadcasting data overseas. • Designed and machined mechanical parts using shop tools on site (milling machine, drill press, and lathe). • Successful on-time installation, calibration, testing and troubleshooting of all recording channels and connections to monitoring system before the plant generating unit went back online. • Installation report writing and editing used for the project presentation by the University

Hired as a technical consultant and test engineer for a company in the power market, offering engineering services spanning the spectrum of large rotating machinery including turbines, reciprocating engines, motors, and generators. Lead Engineer for signal processing design, prototyping, logistics and production on over 15 upgrade projects and disaster management campaigns for power companies such as GE, New York Power Authority, and US Army Corps of Engineers. Designed and maintained the local digital environment for the company. • Electrical Engineering • Responsible for designing PCB electrical boards (utilizing PSpice), hardware, and coordinating the production of Analog to Digital signal conditioner prototypes for accurate electrical measurements and easier data acquisition/analysis in high voltage environments while "listening" to the machine. • Designed a complete test lab and workshop area in office, resulting in 30% reduction in costs through in-house prototyping. • Responsible for the redesign of the company server room, including 37 servers, all working under Windows Server and Linux environments. • Designed hardware for “listening” to the machine in operation, meeting the industry requirements still used to date. Streamlined and designed measurement processes for field testing to decrease logistics and installation time by an average one week. • Involved as independent consultant in data analysis used for mechanical failure investigations related to numerous lawsuits between plant owners and power companies. Analysis involved LabVIEW programming as well as report development.
