Residents take 10 courses (4 in the fall; 4 in the spring; 2 in the summer). This coursework is fully integrated into a year-long clinical experience in a host school.Residents work with a small group of students (6-8) over the course of five months to demonstrate whether they can improve these students’ reading performance (demonstrated via formative assessments). At the end of this year, residents are assessed on their performance in three areas: improving the small group’s skills; successful coursework completion; and demonstration of practice during student teaching and the small group setting. With success in each of these areas, residents will be recommended to continue as teacher of record the following year.
