Currently, self-employed process and environmental consultant providing ongoing service as software development consultant for Tulsa Heaters, Inc and Tulsa Heaters Midstream. Developing performance simulation software for fired heaters for oil field production facilities, refineries, and chemical plants.Upon returning to the US, served as Professor of Engineering at Calvin University with responsibilities that included engineering instruction to students and development of Chemical Engineering specialization.Previously, Chief Engineer in AECOM's Bristol (Thermal Power and Desalination Process Engineering) Office and having over 30 years of experience in the fossil and nuclear power, oil and gas, heat transfer, and pharmaceutical industries. Knowledgeable in the areas of project management, process engineering and modeling, design and operation of heat transfer equipment, and industrial water and wastewater treatment. Familiar with the environmental licensing processes of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and World Bank/International Finance Corporation. Having a lengthy experience in the UK, UAE, and Qatar with AECOM and URS. Worked on a number of projects in UK, Malta, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar and UAE as well as projects in the Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. These projects have encompassed environmental licensing and engineering studies and designs.Prior to AECOM/URS, served as Chairman and Professor of Chemical Engineering at Qatar University. Served for a number of years as an EIA reviewer for the Supreme Council for the Environment and Natural Reserves in the interpretation and development of Qatar environmental policy. Actively consulted in the design and performance simulation of fired heaters. Performed research in areas, such as fluid flow, EOS development, electrolyte thermodynamics, and modeling of acid gas removal. Presented short courses in subjects including: Chemical Processing for Non-Chemical Engineers, Handling and Management of Hazardous Materials, Water Treatment of Injection Water Projects, Fractionation, and Hazardous Materials Management. Previous experience includes the design and construction of water and wastewater treatment systems for fossil and nuclear power plants.
