Managing Free Press’ campaigns for an open, accessible, and affordable internet

• Coordinated the design and implementation of campaign plans across the entire suite of VPIRG’s issue areas, including strategies to enhance public engagement in key legislative districts while strengthening relationships with community-based organizations;• Collaborated with campaign director of Energy Independent Vermont (EIV) to: identify, recruit, and retain coalition partners, plan strategy meetings with EIV team, and manage communications and organizing activities;• Directed carbon pricing coalition’s citizen lobbying campaign, overseeing organizers from multiple organizations who trained diverse groups of citizens to hold 73 meetings with state legislators on the importance of carbon pricing and climate action;• Ensured public facing educational materials on various policy areas were up-to-date and easily accessible for a variety of audiences;• Designed materials and modules for VPIRG’s first social media training, designed to get members and supporters more comfortable using Facebook for political advocacy;• Designed and launched VPIRG’s first phone bank, connecting thousands of Vermonters with their legislators across our issue areas while also bringing our phone fundraising in-house for the first time in organizational history;• Supported VPIRG’s fundraising and development goals by collaborating on campaign planning for summer canvass, soliciting in-kind donations for events, and participating in our major donor program, during which I successfully raised $15,000 over the course of 30 meetings.

• Built and maintained user-interface for online community engagement tool used to deepen and broaden engagement with walk-bike advocates in communities throughout Vermont;• Developed strategy for synchronizing Local Motion’s web presence with social media to generate more engagement with Local Motion content and event attendance, including setting up and co-managing Pages and Groups for local walk-bike advocacy groups;• Collaborated with technical and educational staff to coordinate allocation of resources towards program implementation in communities;• Worked with executive and deputy directors to develop strategies for identifying and developing relationships with communities ripe for walk-bike advocacy;• Managed interns to plan and implement events with the purpose of getting Vermonters more involved with the organization and interested in advocating for walk and bike issues.

• Staff-lead on Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) statute change working group, bringing together ideologically diverse members of the Coalition to propose changes to a program that has brought innumerable recreation, conservation, and economic benefits to the state;• Responsible for social media content, press releases, newsletters, blog posts and other public-facing documents;• Worked closely with Coalition’s lobbyists to pass SSB 6227, which implemented the first major reforms of the WWRP in 25 years;• Planned and implemented grasstop-recruitment and education campaign to strengthen relationships with existing member organizations from the private sector, while also performing outreach to attract new organization and governmental agency partners. Project involved organizing statewide stakeholder-recruitment meetings in coordination with existing member organizations, while managing staff responsible for outreach and creation of key communications materials;• Lead researcher and contributor on ‘needs assessment’ white paper for the Washington state legislature focused on meeting projected needs for recreation and conservation over the next thirty years;• Responsible for staffing and facilitating internal State Policy Committee, as well as providing regular policy and outreach reports to Executive Committee and full Board.

• Designed and implemented instructional modules for a variety of courses in political science, philosophy, and international relations;• Mentored and advised undergraduate students from an economic, cultural, linguistic, and racially diverse student body;• Coordinated students in service learning projects at local food banks, community gardens, and social justice organizations;• Consistently received evaluation scores in the 90-95th percentile of teaching assistants.
