Environmental Compliance Manager
Managing a variety of City environmental programs and projects, including the City’s Storm Water Management Program, Waste Reduction and Recycling Program, GIS program, Climate Action and Adaption Planning Project, habitat restoration projects, grant projects, and hazardous materials compliance. • Managed several high-visibility projects, including the development of the City’s first Climate Action and Adaptation Plan, the Mission Trail Stream Stability Study and Habitat Restoration project, the North Dunes Restoration project, City facilities LED retrofits, and the City’s first ADA Compliance Plan.• Managed the development of the City’s first GIS platform.• Managed all aspects of compliance with the City’s Phase II Municipal Storm Water Permit, including watershed pollutant source tracking, compliance inspections and outreach, staff training, and development and enforcement of drainage, water quality and erosion control guidelines. • Amended the City’s municipal code and garbage collection contract to implement the requirements of SB 1383. Took a leadership role in collaborative regional efforts to implement the new State mandate.• Took a leadership role in developing partnerships with other agencies, business organizations, non-profit organizations, and schools to improve implementation of City programs. • Submitted successful grant applications, including a $120,000 CalRecycle Grant for the installation of dual trash/recycling public containers, a $55,000 Coastal Conservancy grant for wildfire mitigation, and a $250,000 3CE grant for an EV sweeper. • Developed an ordinance banning non-recyclable and non-compostable diposable food ware, and collaborated with local non-profit organizations, schools, the Chamber of Commerce, and businesses on outreach for its successful implementation.• Conducted multiple presentations at various City commissions and the City Council in support of these projects.
