I joined the Growth team when we were four engineers. In the time I was on the team I:* Helped build an API to streamline the way companies are created in Gusto's codebase* Worked primarily on the onboarding product, helping simplify the process of onboarding to a payroll product (which is notoriously complex)* Helped the Growth team facilitate a brand refresh* Strengthened the analytics and data within the Growth onboarding sphere, making experimentation more rapid and safe* Built and strengthened relationships with the Sales and Marketing teams, resulting in developing internal tools for those teams as well as incorporating their feedback (and the feedback they receive from customers) back into our product* Led the team through three Ruby upgrades and two Rails upgrades, and developed a process for managing gem dependencies. Helped set the standard for upgrading Growth's underlying core technologies* Helped grow the engineering team from 4 to over 20, heavily participating in recruiting, interviewing, and closing candidatesI also:* Worked on the COVID-19 engineering response team, rapidly building tools to help Gusto customers survive more than a year of macroeconomic uncertainty. This included reimagining aspects of customer billing, product plans, accessibility of information in-app, and more* Published three articles on the Gusto blog to help companies and individuals make sense of the new legislation* Managed an intern, who later came back to Gusto as a full-time engineer! While working as an engineer at Square, was heavily involved in the Diversity & Inclusion initiatives that had high visibility throughout the company.• Founding member of a council that audited engineering hiring practices and worked to ensure they were consistent, fair, scalable, and free of bias• Developed curriculum for Ally Skills for Non Minorities workshop, and collaborated with senior leadership to deploy the training throughout Square• Facilitated Ally Skills Workshops across multiple disciplines and teams, with varying content needs• Key partner with senior leadership to communicate diversity and inclusion programs to the entire organization• Facilitator for #IAmRemarkable self-advocacy workshops for the Women@ employee resource group • Worked with each of the employee resource groups at Square to identify key ways to increase effective allyship across the organization• Facilitated multiple workshops with the Women in Engineering Employee Resource Group, including workshops to get more women interview trained and conversations with senior leadership about the promotion and compensation processes• Actively participated in engineering recruiting both onsite and on college campuses, in addition to attending the Grace Hopper Conference as an interviewer

I worked on code that helps merchants set up, run, and grow their businesses• Key contributor in the Knockout.js to Ember.js migration of the entire frontend of the onboarding codebase• Responsible for auditing an entire Java legacy service from first-principles to understand its role in the product ecosystem• Advised, scoped, and led a large rework of said Java service to support an entirely new frontend product experience.• Shepherded the onboarding team's code through a change in Square's user model with minimal impact to our merchants• Developed and tested disaster recovery plans for multiple services• Conducted 50+ technical interviews of engineering candidates as a well-calibrated interviewer• Founding member of a committee tasked with scaling the engineering interview process, ensuring it was consistent across candidates and free of bias

Responsible for helping create a non-tecnhical web editing experience for GoDaddy.com to allow content editors to manage, personalize, and split-test content. Participated in the shift of GoDaddy's development style towards mobile-first.

Responsibilities include a variety of tasks from the product domain (A/B testing, development) to the sales & marketing domain (SEO optimization, blogging, social media management) and everything in between. Learned how to become a valuable member in a startup environment and collaborate in a fast-paced, high-stakes workplace.

Responsible for strategically targeting and referring strong applicants to apply to AB InBev's Global Management Trainee program, a ten month rotational, cross-functional management program for graduating college seniors. Organized campus recruiting events from information sessions to one-on-one recruiting meetings.

Worked with NMR and IR to gather data about polymers to use in water purification processes, both Nalco's own and those of the competitors. Re-programmed the macros for the NMR machine so that it was more accurate in it's readings. Also did some assorted lab work in order to improve the quality of the workplace for the full time employees.
