As the corporate communications specialist in our Corporate and Media Communications and Public Relations Department at PenFed Credit Union, my position includes a variety of specialized tasks that include: intranet content management, internal employee communications, external media communications, and departmental administrative responsibilities.

In this this lead position, I worked with internal departmental executive teams and external corporate partnerships to craft effective marketing content and corporate communication messaging. Responsibilities were diverse. Expertise and contributions to the team included: Copywriter & Copy Editor: Created and edited a wide variety of content for both internal and external corporate communications; to include: press releases, direct mail, PenFed.org website product pages, brochures, corporate forms and letters electronically generated to membership, and employee internal corporate communications. Corporate Blog: Managed, edited, and contributed to creating weekly blog content. Additionally, worked with departmental product experts to brainstorm ideas for blog topics and talking points for weekly blog features, and created and maintained quarterly calendar and schedule for the blog. Intranet Content Management: Managed, maintained, and provided copywriting and editing expertise for PenFed's intranet content. Utilized Content Management System (CMS) to conduct intranet updates, specifically Ektron CMS 8.02-8.5. Vendor Management: Managed all content-related vendor services for Corporate Communications team; to include: wire services (PRWeb and PR Newswire), and media monitoring services, Meltwater News and PR Newswire's Agility. Press Releases: Created, edited, and managed the distribution of PenFed’s corporate press release communication. Instrumental in growing PenFed’s press release efforts, and in turn, our Search Engine Optimization (SEO) presence online. Media Relations: Served as a media relations liaison for the credit union. I frequently corresponded or spoke with reporters from all over the U.S. I assisted reporters by fact checking and/or providing additional information about our diverse array of products and services. For more formal media inquiries, assisted by arranging interviews between media and high-level department executives.

Held multiple positions within the Research Department with increasing levels of responsibility. Promptly researched and resolved member account issues related to missing deposits, misapplied loan payments, and fee reversals. Corresponded by email with members and non-members, alike, regarding PenFed products, services, or general inquiries. Utilized strong problem-solving and multitasking techniques in a fast paced, high-volume work environment.

Managed and reviewed loan applications for accuracy; corresponded with members by mail, email, and telephone to compile required documentation needed for final loan officer review. Prepared, disbursed, and mailed loan documents and loan check to approved member applicants.

Provided excellent member service to an international and highly diverse membership as a member service representative at PenFed's Eugene Service Center. Strong problem-solving and multitasking skills utilized.
