Akif Affan BSc (Hons), PgDipArb, PvQS, MMIArb, MAIADR, MAE- an experienced professional with a strong background in contractual and claims matters established from working on major international civil engineering works, infrastructure works, mixed developments, and the oil, gas, and energy sector across Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the Middle East. He holds particular expertise in construction dispute resolution through the preparation and defence of notices on contractual claims, interim particulars and submission of complete and detailed particulars under the government and private forms of contract on matters relating to payments, certifications, bonds, extensions of time, prolongation, loss-&-expense, acceleration-&-disruption claims and insurances on behalf of contractors, subcontractors and owners. He advises parties at all levels on contractual and commercial matters and provides independent opinions and position papers on contentious and non-contentious issues.His experience includes the preparation of expert reports and independent opinions in matters of quantum for civil suit litigation, arbitration, and adjudication. He has testified as an expert on few quantum matters. During his career, he has personally mediated parties in marine works dispute for out-of-court settlement.Akif holds a first-class degree of Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Quantity Surveying, and a Professional Diploma in International Arbitration. Professionally, he is a practicing member and an accredited expert from The Academy of Experts, UK. Other affiliations include BQSM, RISM, MIArb and AIADR. At the same time, he reads law at the University of Malaya.
