Passionate and motivated Scientist with a PhD in Cancer Biology, who made a path all her own to identify the transferable skills needed successfully lead effective and impactful programs at the intersection of health and homelessness. Although unconventional, I have managed to end up where I feel I am contributing my training address public health crises that have a meaningful impact on human rights and dignity. Postdoctoral Research ScholarWashington University In St. Louis Nov 2008 - Sep 2011Greater St. Louis Area Studying breast cancer drug interactions, specifically looking at drug resistance to trastuzumab (Herceptin); trying to ascertain why some breast cancers are resistant to this therapy, utilizing stable isotope labeling of amino acids in cell culture (SILAC), a strategy used in quantitative phosphoproteomics research. Knowledge of mass spectrometry specific sample preparations (i.e. sample collection, enzymatic digestions, phospho-enrichment, iTRAQ labeling and protein/peptide separation) for this type of methodology, and study the analysis from results from the mass spectrometer using MASCOT and MaxQuant. Key member of the steering committee for diversity post doctoral association, serving as a network for minority students under-represented to share their work and provide an environment for those students asking questions about a cancer research career. -
