The National Health Care for the Homeless Council (NHCHC) is the premier national organization working at the nexus of homelessness and health care. Since 1986, NHCHC has brought together thousands of health care professionals, medical respite care providers, people with lived experience of homelessness, and advocates. In July 2020, the NHCHC launched the National Institute for Medical Respite Care (NIMRC), the country’s first national institute to advance best practices in medical respite care for people experiencing homelessness .
