I left the Charity Commission in December 2020. I developed and successful delivered a new strategic approach to fraud for the Commission, working in partnership with key stakeholders to make the sector more resilient. I am now seeking new challenges and work opportunities in counter fraud.In my role I established and chaired the Charities Against Fraud group, established and led the annual, International Charity Fraud Awareness Week, researched and published Preventing Charity Fraud and Preventing Charity Cybercrime national reports - based on the largest charity specific research ever undertaken worldwide. The success of this approach was recognised most recently with the prestigious Government Counter Fraud Award 2019 for Outstanding Collaboration.My Master's thesis on the "Nature and scale of social housing fraud" was the first academic study on tenancy fraud in the UK. The results have been adopted by the government as the current national estimate of the scale of tenancy fraud and provided the principle evidence base for the recent Prevention of Social Housing Fraud Act. I have extensive experience as a trainer. As national development lead for the Changing Organisational Cultures toolkit at an earlier employer I successfully delivered the leading counter fraud culture measurement and improvement toolkit used by the public sector. During this time the use of the toolkit was recommended by the Committee on Standards in Public Life and the Cabinet Office Fraud, Error and Debt Taskforce.I have been active in the development of many other counter fraud products, including the British Standards Institute review groups for both the Whistleblowing Code and Anti Bribery Management System. I also led the international team that developed the European Regional Auditors Institute guide to fraud risk management.
