As a Junior I participated in local and ITF sanctioned tournaments, as well as running and hosting them at the family owned JD tennis Academy, in Nairobi. During the summer months of 1995 and 1996 I participated in tennis camps at the Billy Stearns BardMoor tennis Facility in Clearwater Florida. This was the former premisis of famous Australian Tennis Coach and longtime family friend, Harry Hopman. In 1997, I traveled with the Kenya Davis Cup team to Barcelona Spain and Sophia, Bulgaria. I then returned to Barcelona in 1998 and spent the next 2 years training and playing local and ATP satellitie tournaments. During this raining, I developed a love for coaching.
