Alan is a qualified Mechanical Engineer who has worked extensively in New Zealand, England and Australia with a wide range of people in industries including Oil and Gas, Mining, Contracting and Manufacturing. Alan’s work involved a mixture of hands-on, technical support, design and sales and for the last 16 years has been in Senior Management positions. Alan spent several years as a Pipeline Engineer on the national Government Pipeline and Storage System in the UK which was a fantastic way to see the country and included several stints flying the route of the pipelines in a helicopter.After three years of travelling Europe extensively in a motorhome, Alan is back in New Zealand working with an innovative locally owned company, Moisture Detection Company. Using patented technology, we install moisture monitoring systems in houses with monolithic cladding, which are vulnerable to leaks and decay. A sophisticated analysis system allows us to measure and report on timber moisture, decay and treatment levels at dozens of points around the house. This allows an evidence based remedial and condition management process to be implemented. The alternative for many of these houses is to be reclad, or continue to leak and lose value. From 2008 - 2017, Alan's focus area was protective coatings, more specifically, fast set polyurea systems applied onto steel, concrete or wood in the mining, infrastructure, marine and oil and gas industries. Polyurea is an ideal product where fast return to service, flexibility, chemical resistance, abrasion resistance are important. Nukote Australia are the largest and most experienced polyurea application company in Western Australia with over 12 years experience in this rapidly growing industry. As Engineering Manager, Alan's roles included all aspects of projects including ;client meetings and confirmation of project requirements, ensuring that the correct products and processes are specified, costing and proposal writing, Project Health, Safety and Quality Management.As Business Manager (part time) in Acorn Life Path, Alan's put his analytical skills and experience to good use in setting up and running systems and processes while as a qualified Life Coach he assists clients in managing their day-to-day finances, and setting and achieving financial goals.
