Current role since 2009; leading a team of 9.Job Duties• Oversee and guide team on horizon scanning, literature review and evidence gathering, from published scientific/economic/social science/policy literature, government/agency reports and unpublished sources. All these provide the basis for the strategic planning process to identify priority areas for the Board.• Facilitate conversations among HPB’s Board of Directors and Senior Management in prioritising areas of focus and strategic thrusts towards the medium-term and long-term goals.• Guide team in working across Programme Development and Outreach departments to align implementable workplans to board-wide strategies, and to facilitate engagement with public agency stakeholders (MOH, MOE, PA, LTA, HDB, NParks, URA, ECDA) in whole-of-government collaborative efforts in pushing for ‘Health in All Policies”.• Oversee the establishing and monitoring of strategic collaborative projects between HPB and relevant overseas partners – WHO’s Western Pacific Regional Office (WPRO) and Alliance for Healthy Cities (AFHC), ASEAN Secretariat – to showcase Singapore’s health promotion programmes. In this capacity, I lead the team in hosting regional visitors and ASEAN fellows (on training attachment to HPB)• Represent HPB at regional/international conferences and meetings, such as World Health Summit (2011), WPRO Technical Workshops (in Public Health and Health Promotion), ASEAN Taskforce Meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases.Achievementsi) Completion and launch of the Healthy Living Master Plan in 2014 – A roadmap for nation-wide efforts to influence healthy behaviour changeii) Completion (with MOH’s approval) of HPB 5-Year Strategic Plan (2014 – 2019)iii) Organisation of the 2012 World Conference on Tobacco or Health (WCTOH) in Singapore – a major smoking control conference held for the first time in South East Asia – which was attended by 2000 delegates, and graced by Dr Margaret Chan (Director-General, WHO).
