I was responsible for cash management and accounting of investments of funds as well as overseeing student financial aid disbursements and collections valued at $400m per annum. In 2015, I was promoted to Assistant Vice President and University Controller to develop, implement, manage and maintain internal controls and financial reporting policies, standards and procedures to ensure fiscal, payroll and procurement practices are compliant with university policies, external regulations, restrictions and accounting principles. I provided strategic and comprehensive reports, analysis and support to the CFO regarding business practices, accounting, reporting and internal controls across campus, and served as the primary point of contract for all audits. Highlights include:- Leading successful cash consolidation activities resulting in funding for a University Strategic Fund to ensure provision of improved funding to meet university priorities.- Automating accounting and finance procedures into a bespoke, newly developed Human Subject Payment system which resulted in a significant reduction in resources.- Reducing total number of FTEs in the Finance and Accounting division from 150 to 135.- Created a CFO Financial Accountable Officer listserv and a Departmental Financial Accountable Officer listserv to provide a platform for strategic financial related engagement and communications.
