Profile bio

About Alberto Di Ronza

I am a talented Ph.D. in Medical Genetics and I work as Associate Director, Medical Science Liaison at Amicus Therapeutics. I graduated in Naples (IT), at the University of Studies of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli, and my thesis was developed at the Telethon Institute of Medicine and Genetics. I have an established track record in designing and managing challenging research projects, with an extensive theoretical and technical knowledge in molecular genetics and cell biology. My area of expertise involves lysosomal storage disorders, including cargo receptors and chaperones involved in the intracellular trafficking of lysosomal enzymes. I am an experienced lecturer with a strong practice in presenting research findings at national and international meetings. My teaching skills led me to deliver courses in molecular biology and laboratory techniques to graduate and medical students, postdoctoral fellows and physicians.Prior to my role in industry, I was a postdoctoral associate at Baylor College of Medicine. My leading skills in conducting cutting-edge science projects led me to be a co-author of several high-level, peer-reviewed manuscripts. My training was focused on understanding the leading causes of Lysosomal Storage Disorders (LSDs) and my studies led to the discovery of the Transcription factor EB (TFEB), a master regulator of lysosomal biogenesis, and to the characterization of molecular mechanism that lead to development of Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis 8 (NCL8). I am an active triathlete and sports enthusiast. I enjoys traveling, scuba diving, the outdoors, and photography.”

Listed skills include Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Culture, Western Blotting, and 35 others.
