Al’s experience spans a number of private and public sector organizations, from large to small, providing executive and managerial leadership at all levels and in many specialized areas including financial services management and delivery, systems design and programming, strategic planning and economic development. His interest in entrepreneurship started in 1995 when he launched and ran the Niagara Region Ventures Fund, an Erie County IDA initiative, which invested over $9 Million in 34 local start-up and early-stage companies under his leadership. To date NRVF has enjoyed a cash-on-cash return on these investments in excess of $20 Million, including a 20x return on one investment. Awareness of shortcomings in the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Upstate New York prompted his role as a co-founder of Launch NY, a venture development organization covering 27 counties of upstate New York. He remains actively involved with LNY as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence mentoring and assisting start-up companies. Al has served as a director and officer of a number of public and private companies. He holds an MBA from Canisius College and an MA in mathematics from Fordham University. Honors include recognition by the New York State Economic Development Council for his contributions to economic development in New York State.
