Alec is a Brazilian young entrepreneur that started his first venture, an ice cream shop, at the age of 16 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He moved to Italy at the age of 14 where he acquired an interest in making Italian Gelato while working at a local ice cream parlor. After a series of earthquakes hit most of northern Italy in 2012, Alec decided that it was time to go back to his family in Brazil. In Brazil, he decided to continue his passion for ice cream by studying a way to open his own shop. In 2014, along with an Italian partner, Alec finally opened Gelateria Primo Amore, a craft ice cream parlor in a famous artistic neighborhood of Sao Paulo. His story has been broadcasted by CBN News radio in Brazil, and his company has been featured in the cover of local newspaper O Estado de São Paulo. In 2016, Alec sold his share of the company to pursue his dream of studying at Harvard University. In 2018, he moved to the United States as a small step towards his dream and graduated with an Associates Degree in Economics from Valencia College. At Valencia, Alec met Karina Nunes with whom he founded Newt, a shared mobility provider that seeks to shift society towards a more efficient and sustainable way of commuting.Alec has been part of Fundação Estudar, a nonprofit foundation in Brazil that seeks to improve South America’s economic scenario by promoting and helping young entrepreneurs achieve their dreams. In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis and practicing outdoor sports.
