In 2022, I joined the Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness as an intern and was quickly transitioned into a full-time research assistant. My day-to-day contributions to the team include, but are limited to:• Leveraging data analytics to report newsletter data to senior management, leading to improved and more focused newsletter copy• Manage and maintain the Cost of Living Index (COLI) in the following ways: o Created new automation solutions which provides the index with rich, accurate data while saving significant staff time o Write regular blog posts highlighting strengths of the index o Created, and maintain, web scraping tools to ensure a timely product o Collaborate with senior staff and managers so everyone is on the same page throughout the data production cycle• Work with administrative data sets, such as integrated post-secondary education data system (IPEDS), which require extensive cleaning and analysis to make them actionable• Facilitated SME sessions which provided data-related technical assistance for the Building Equitable Pathways report• Worked with the state of Alabama to create a report about credential attainment for Governor Ivey’s Success Plus Attainment Goal• Managed quarterly reports for the abovementioned BEP report• Coordinated the execution of final BEP reportI am humbled and proud to have made an impact on the regions we serve as well as on my fellow research team in a fairly short period of time.
