I am a fourth year undergraduate student at Sonoma State University pursuing a B.S. in Biochemistry with a minor in math. My goal is to attend a graduate program in biomedical science starting Fall 2025. My research interests include microbiology, immunology, infectious diseases, and virology.As a McNair scholar, I have invested the past two years into on-campus independent research. I previously worked in the chemistry department but have since began a new research project within the biology department through Dr. Lin's lab. In this lab we aim to study hydrogen persulfides (RSSH), and specifically, the effects of cysteine trisulfide on activated macrophage cells to induce an anti-inflammatory response.In 2023 participated in summer research through the REU in Structural and Computational Biology and Biophysics at Purdue University where I delved into structural biology and virology research. My project aimed to find the structural determination of an Enterovirus species that had undergone mutagenesis. We performed functional analyses to determine antiviral efficacy against the mutant Enterovirus strain.
