Challenge: Implement Value Engineering (VE) improvements to Slip-Control Systems (ABS, ESC, TCS) products for passenger cars and trucks.Action: Championed VE changes to Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU).Result: Saved ~$750k yearly by implementing changes to machined parts, formed parts, and coatings.Challenge: Implement VE improvements to Foundation Brakes products for passenger cars and trucks.Action: Championed VE engineering changes to hydraulic brake calipers and rotors.Result: Saved ~$500k yearly by implementing changes to machined parts, sand-cast iron parts, and rubber seals; saved ~$100k yearly by establishing brake lining measurement work instructions.Challenge: Support Slip Control Systems engineering efforts.Action: Tracked, built and tested prototype HCU according to project timing, before analyzing the resulting data and presenting it to the engineering staff; conducted root-cause analysis of HCU assembly-line rejects.Result: Identified fatigue life issue with cartridge design, established standard assembly procedure for HCUs, and reduced assembly line scrap and down-time.
