At Fox and Associates putting people first and enjoying the journey are core values. I love being part of a team that lives these values, going that extra mile for clients, looking out for each other and having a lot of fun along the way. My earliest working experiences were in the dairy industry in North Canterbury, but surveying presented itself as a job that combined working outdoors with more mathematical challenges. When I graduated from the University of Otago in 2005 I moved to Christchurch in the hope of becoming involved in surveys of high country pastoral leases undergoing tenure review, which I thought would be a good way to combine my work with my love of the outdoors. Over the next nine years at Andersen & Associates Ltd my wish was amply granted as I was involved in 11 tenure review surveys and numerous other surveying operations in the Canterbury, Otago and Marlborough high country. Along the way I developed very strong skills in cadastral surveying, Crown land and working in remote rural environments. Allied to these are skills in large scale GNSS networks developed over years working on LINZ geodetic control projects as well as positioning work for a multitude of other clients from regional authorities to hydrographic surveying specialists. The highlight of this work was a seven week stint on a vessel charting a river in the remote jungles of Papua New Guinea. At Fox and Associates I use these skills to ensure that our subdivision surveys are correct in every detail and that we have robust control networks in place. With my rural background I'm passionate about solving the unique challenges of our farming clients, interacting with planning and legal frameworks to help make their landholdings sustainable and practical. I'm also the maintenance manager for Fox & Associates' fleet of UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) and USVs (Unmanned Surface Vessels). This involves leveraging my hobbyist electronics, mechanical and aircraft restoration skills to make repairs and modifications, design and build payload integrations and undertake routine mainteneance. This is especially critical for the large UAVs which are operated under a robust Part 102 CAA Air Operator Certificate that requires good record keeping and well-documented maintenance program. I work closely with our operators to ensure that all of our aerial and marine surveying tools are reliable and able to be operated safely.
Listed skills include Topographic Surveys, Geomatics, Cadastral, Surveying, and 15 others.
