Role & responsibilities:• Develop and prepare policy proposals, discussion papers and briefs for senior colleagues. • Project management, leading teams of up to 15 specialists to develop new policies. • Stakeholder management; forming strong working relationships with government departments, members of parliament, broadcasters, and industry bodies. • Preparation of external publications including public consultations.• Preparation of research briefs on related policies. • Delivery of presentations and policy recommendations to the Chief Executive and Ofcom Board.• Management of project meetings, including setting agendas, assigning tasks, providing updates to senior colleagues.• Analysis of industry data and its impact on Ofcom policy.• Management of external consultancy tenders, including budgets and conducting due diligence. • Represent Ofcom at external events. • Supporting junior colleagues, providing guidance and constructive feedback. Key Achievements:• Project managed the first broadcast competition assessment under new regulatory powers. Managed a large team of specialists, worked closely with senior management, developed strong relationships with external stakeholders including broadcasters and government departments. Received widespread media coverage with positive assessments of our findings. • Worked on the controversial proposed 2017 merger between 21st Century Fox and BSkyB. Played a key role in reviewing responses to a public consultation and assessing how they might impact our decision. • Managed a team developing new policies for how a major public broadcaster was able to trade with its commercial subsidiaries. • Project managed the 2018 Review of the UK’s Media Ownership rules. • Led an Ofcom-wide project to monitor market changes and their impact on the activities of a major public broadcaster.
