Ever since I was young I had a passion for sports and I knew I wanted to be a part of sports for my career path. As I have gone through my time in high school I found that sports journalism is the career path I wanted to go down to help follow my passion for sports. During my time as a student at UNLV I have had the opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on journalism experience by broadcasting games on the student radio station, contributing to the Rebel Report television show, and being involved as a writer with the student newspaper. I have found a passion for sports writing, where I moved from writer, to sports editor, to editor in chief, which is the position I currently hold. Also at UNLV, I have gained an understanding and passion for the business side of sports. Through my time with the Sports Marketing and Management Association, I have learned that there are so many career paths in the sports world. As a part of that organization I have broadened my career vision by working with sports teams and events, to see all the opportunities there are to work in sports. I am looking to gain more experience and learn more about the sports industry, by meeting new people and getting the opportunity to volunteer and work at sporting events happening in Las Vegas. And I still want to pursue opportunities in the journalism world through radio, print, or television by covering the growing Las Vegas sports scene.
