Student Food Rescue Program Manager
Boston University Community Service Center
Boston, Massachusetts, United States
Manage the Student Food Rescue (SFR) program through Boston University’s Community Service Center. SFR is one one of the largest student-run food salvage programs in the country and it aims to tackle food waste and food insecurity in Boston. We save over 100,000 pounds of food from being wasted each year by sending teams of student volunteers to pick up food and then deliver it to various community organizations in the Boston area. In this role, I maintained relationships with over 20 community partners, managed the recruitment and oversight of over 50 volunteers, and organized all route logistics for over 15 weekly food runs. I also planned education and reflection events for our volunteers to reflect on their experiences in our program and one-time service opportunities.
